Tongits Go Rules: Master Melds, Sapaw Lay-Offs & Butasan Calls
Documented by tournament directors who standardize competitive Tongits rules across provincial and digital championships in Luzon and Visayas.
Master the terminology of competitive Tongits. Learn the exact criteria for opening melds, executing 'sapaw' lay-offs onto opponent hands, and triggering the 8x Butasan jackpot multiplier.
While every Filipino family has friendly house rules, playing digital Tongits requires strict adherence to standardized tournament guidelines. Our tongits go rules guide breaks down valid melds, defensive discards, and winning tactics.
Valid Melds: Books vs Straight Sequences
A valid meld consists of at least three cards: either a Three-of-a-Kind (Book) or three consecutive cards of the same suit (Straight Run).
You cannot use a card in more than one meld simultaneously. 4-card straight sequences are valid and highly protective against opponents' sapaw lay-offs.
